With the rapid adoption of AI, the deployment of data centers requiring massive computational resources is accelerating, leading to a significant increase in power consumption as a critical challenge. Power electronics hold the key to addressing this issue, enabling high-efficiency power conversion through SiC and GaN technologies and playing an essential role across a wide range of fields.
This session will explore the latest trends in power electronics and examine its potential and future direction in the AI era.

To meet the rapidly growing power demand of data centers, higher efficiency and power density are required in their power supply systems. This seminar outlines power electronics for data centers and highlights key technology trends for improving the efficiency of GaN-based high-frequency converters. It also introduces recent research trends on solid-state transformers (SSTs), which are gaining attention with the move toward high-voltage DC distribution in data centers.

Advances in cutting-edge semiconductor technology have enabled higher density of AI processors such as GPUs. As a result, the power consumption per server equipped with AI processors has begun to exceed 10 kW. It makes the densification and efficiency of AI data centers a critical challenge. This presentation will introduce our efforts toward a highly efficient AI computing infrastructure utilizing direct liquid cooling technology.

As AI becomes more widespread, processors are being required to have greater computational power and faster response. Accordingly, power supply products that provide electricity to server systems are also facing demands for higher power and high performance characteristics. In this presentation, I will explain the challenges and efforts for improvement from the perspective of power supply product development, as well as activity looking ahead to even higher power requirements in the future.
